Salmonellosis is an infection caused by an intracellular bacterium that occurs primarily through the ingestion of contaminated food. Fructans are ingredients that work as prebiotics since they positively modulate the intestinal microbiota in humans and animals. The objective of this study was to evaluate the hematological levels of mice infected with salmonella and in treatment with fructans of Agave. Blood samples were obtained from adult mice of strain C57BL / 6, which were previously inoculated with an attenuated strain of Salmonella entericaserovar Typhimurium and administered with a solution of 10% agave fructans and their controls. The hematological parameters were obtained by means of an automated hematological analyzer, and the blood smear was performed to effect the differential of leukocytes. The results show that agave fructans decreased the leukocyte count by 34.35% in the mice infected with Salmonella with respect to the control. Fructans can have an immunomodulatory effect and help control Salmonella infection.
