| dc.description.abstract | La amibiasis es una infección intestinal o extraintestinal provocada por el protozoario parásito Entamoeba histolytica. En el grupo de trabajo se encontró por primera vez que el transcrito del gen EhRab8 se expresa diferencialmente entre cepas de diferente virulencia y retiene el intrón sólo en las cepas de baja virulencia. Las cepas G3 y Rahman transfectadas con el gen EhRab8sin intrón presentaron la producción del transcrito procesado. La cepa G3-Rab8 presentó menor expresión del transcrito procesado que la cepa Rahman-Rab8. La cepa Rahman sobre expresante mostró un incremento en la virulencia determinada por efecto citopático, actividad hemolítica, actividad citotóxica y fagocitosis de bacterias.Los resultados sugieren fuertemente que la proteína Rab8 participa como un determinante de virulencia de E. histolytica | es_MX |

| dc.description.abstractEnglish | Amebiasis is anintestinal or extraintestinal infection caused by the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica. In the workgroup it was found for the first time that the Ehrab8 gene transcript expresses differentially between strains of different virulence and it holds back the intron only in low virulence strains. The G3 and Rahman strains transfected with the EhRab8 without intron showed the production of the processed transcript. The G3-Rab8 showed less expression of the processed transcript than the Rahman-Rab8 strain. The overexpressing Rahman strain showed an increase of the virulence determined by cytopathic effect, hemolytic activity, cytotoxic activity and bacteria phagocytosis.
