In Mexico, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reports that up to 10 percent of births in that institution are premature. One of the complications presented is the loss of heat by the sudden change in temperature. Another complication is jaundice, a yellowdiscoloration of the skin of the newborn due to poor secretion of bilirubin. The objective of this project is to make the first step towards designing a radiant crib that meets the requirements of functionality, in order to achieve this,a needs assessment with specialists and nurses in the area of neonatology was performed to meet these characteristics. We focused on the study of newborn thermoregulation and treatment of jaundice to select the temperature control systems and more adequate phototherapy lamps and in the movement and operation needs to achieve a mechanical design that can operate efficiently. We reached a proposal for the control system of heating units, phototherapy and movements of subsystems such as height and angle, this design features a touch screen controlled with a friendly interface and can send alerts to mobile devices to alert any variation of temperature in the newborn-
